New Delhi, Sep 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday virtually inaugurated the Swaminarayan Temple in Paris, describing the occasion as a new milestone in the cultural ties between India and France.

Modi said the inauguration reflected the spirit of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" — the belief that the world is one family — and described the temple as a living platform for the values of the Sanatan tradition.

Although he was not physically present at the inauguration in Paris, the Prime Minister said he felt connected with the gathering in spirit.

"Although I am not physically present among you in Paris, I feel connected with you in spirit and from my heart," he said.

Modi said the occasion had gained special significance with the blessings of revered saints and prominent figures of the Sanatan tradition.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the growing strength of India-France relations, saying the partnership between the two countries had reached new heights in recent years.

He said that along with French President Emmanuel Macron, India was building a special global strategic partnership covering areas such as technology, artificial intelligence, defence, space and climate action.

Modi noted that 2026 is being celebrated as the India-France Year of Innovation, highlighting the expanding cooperation between the two countries in emerging and strategic fields.

He said the India-France strategic partnership was special because it was built on the strong foundation of longstanding cultural and political ties between the two nations.

The Prime Minister also recalled the contribution and sacrifices of Indian soldiers in France during the country's history, saying their legacy continued to live in the hearts of people.

"History bears witness to the sacrifices of Indian soldiers in France, a legacy that remains alive in our hearts," he said.

The inauguration highlighted the cultural and civilisational connection between India and France while also underscoring the broader strategic partnership between the two countries.
