Mangaluru, Sep 8: The YCS Bondel Unit organised 'Baal Bondel 2K26', a special talent competition for little children, on Sunday, September 6 at the St Lawrence English Medium School Auditorium, Bondel. Nearly 30 children participated in the competition.
The programme was compered by Anvitha Noronha and began with a prayer song by the YCS members. The dignitaries present included Fr Basil Vas, parish priest; Fr Lawrence Cutinha, YCS director; Fr Peter Gonsalves, principal of St Lawrence English Medium School; Church Council vice-president John D’Silva and secretary Alwyn Saldanha, along with YCS animators Santhosh Misquith, Steevan Noronha and Leriena Pashan.
The welcome address was delivered by Shrejal D’Souza, YCS member. The event was creatively inaugurated by the YCS members, followed by the honouring of the sponsors.
The three judges —Winston Joel Sequeira, Grishma Melisha Saldanha and Melisha Sony Pinto —were introduced by YCS members Calix Lency Monthero, Olivia Laura Pinto and Sandro Sonia.
In his address, Fr Basil Vas encouraged the young participants and appreciated their confidence and enthusiasm. The competition then began with great excitement.
Each child was given one minute to showcase an individual talent, followed by questions from the emcee and interesting, thought-provoking questions from the judges. The competition provided the children with an opportunity to display their talents while developing confidence, creativity, communication skills and presence of mind.
The programme was conducted systematically by the YCS members under the guidance of the animators. A lively dance performance by the YCS members added colour and excitement to the evening. Parents, parishioners and well-wishers were present and enthusiastically encouraged the young participants.
Following the competition, Winston Joel Sequeira addressed the gathering. Tokens of gratitude were presented to the judges, and Glanvia Jane Pinto delivered the vote of thanks.
The winners were announced by Grishma Melisha Saldanha.

The winners and participants were honoured with trophies, certificates and cash prizes in recognition of their participation and talent.
The event concluded with a group photograph. Baal Bondel 2K26 was a joyful and memorable celebration that gave the little children a wonderful platform to showcase their talents, express themselves confidently and enjoy the spirit of healthy competition.
The YCS Bondel unit expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the parish priest, assistant parish priest, principal, YCS director, animators, judges, sponsors, parents, parishioners and all YCS members for their valuable support and contribution towards the successful conduct of the programme.
