Beltangady, Sep 8: Lokayukta officials conducted surprise raids on the Kuvettu and Madanthyar gram panchayats in the taluk on Tuesday morning.

The action comes in the wake of complaints regarding corruption filed by the public at the Lokayukta central office. As part of the ongoing investigation, the officials visited the panchayat offices and are currently gathering information from the local officials and staff members.

An eight-member Lokayukta team, led by Udupi district Lokayukta inspector Manjunath Shankarhalli, arrived at the Kuvettu and Madanthyar panchayat offices around 10 am. The team, which includes personnel such as Raghavendra Saligrama, Adarsh, Arun Kumar, and Suraj Kapu, is meticulously verifying various files and documents.

Sources indicated that the comprehensive inspection and document verification process is expected to continue.
