Mangaluru, Sep 8: In connection with a suo moto case registered at the Lokayukta central office, officials conducted surprise raids on seven gram panchayats across Dakshina Kannada district.

The raids were carried out at Adyar and Permude gram panchayats in Mangaluru taluk, Pudu, Mani, and Golthamajalu in Bantwal taluk, and Kuvettu and Madanthyar gram panchayats in Beltangady taluk.

The widespread operation was conducted under the guidance of Karnataka Lokayukta Mangaluru division superintendent of police Dinesh Kumar. The raiding teams comprised Mangaluru Lokayukta deputy superintendents of police Dr Gana P Kumar and Suresh Kumar, and inspector Bharathi G; Karwar Lokayukta deputy superintendent of police Dhanya Nayak and inspector Ravi N N; and Udupi Lokayukta deputy superintendent of police Hala Murthy Rao V S and inspector Manjunath, along with other staff members.

A detailed report highlighting the shortcomings and irregularities discovered during the inspections will be submitted to the Lokayukta central office for further action.
