Udupi, Mar 30: Subramanya Yakshakala Bharati, Sooda, in association with Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, will be organizing ‘Tulu Aata Kajja Kotya–2012’ in front of Subramanya Temple, Sooda, on Wednesday April 4.
Karkala MLA H Gopal Bhandary will inaugurate ‘Tulu Aata Kajja Kotya–2012’ on Wednesday at 9.30 am.
Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy president Umanat A Kotian will preside over the programme.
Former Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar will be the chief guest on the occasion.
Shirva MSRS College principal Dr Sudhakar Marla K will release ‘Pagarida Sanka’, Tulu mythological Yakshagana book authored by Harish Shetty Sooda during the programme.
Folklore researcher and lecturer Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli will deliver the felicitation address.
Kateel Durgaparameshwari Yakshagana touring troupe convener K Deviprasad Shetty, Adapady–Palli Umamaheshwar Durgaparameshwari temple trustee Pundalik Nayak, Sooda Subramanya temple managing trustee Dr S Karunakar Hegde, and Sooda gram panchayat member Shankar Kundar Sooda will be the guests of honour.
A seminar on the future of Tulu folk art and conferring of the ‘Tulunada Siri Award’ will be held on Wednesday at 11.30 am.
K Anantaram Bangady will preside over the programme. Navneet Shetty Kadri will moderate the seminar.
Folk art scholars Bottikere Puroshottam Poonja, Siddakatte Vishwanat Shetty, and Ashok Shetty Sarapady will present their papers.
Reminiscences on Tulu Yakshagana will be presented by folklore scholar K L Kundantaya, national award recipient teacher Vittal M Shetty Belady, Yakshagana pictures collector Manohar S Kundar Yermal Bada, Padubelle Narayan Guru education institutions administrator Jinaraj C Salian, Karkal lawyer Sriramana Acharya, Yakshagana organizer Mijar Devanand Bhat, stage artiste Sharat Shetty Kinnigoli, amateur artiste Subramanya Baipadittaya Nandalike, Tulu Yakshagana enthusiast Arun D’Souza Pilar, Sooda Government High School Hindi teacher Ramesh Shastry K S, Tenkanidiyoor Government Pre-University College lecturer Devdas Prabhu Palli, and retired teacher and amateur artiste Kotebeedu Raghuram Shetty.
Popular Tulu Yakshagana plays will be staged on Wednesday from 2 pm to 9 pm by Tulunada Siri Awardee artistes and well-known guest artistes on the occasion.
