Mumbai, Sep 26: Some films are bad, some are terrible, and some become an unpleasant viewing experience from beginning to end. The Vvaan falls into the latter category, with little in the film offering much to engage or entertain the audience.

The film opens with a Mumbai-based engineer, played by Sidharth Malhotra, and his wife, portrayed by Tamannaah Bhatia. The couple is childless but deeply in love. Their early introduction includes singing songs in a large seaside bungalow, visiting a quack who offers potency powders and a controversial joke based on race and skin colour.

The film struggles to recover from this weak beginning as it moves into an uneven mix of fantasy and folklore. The story brings in dark forests, guardian devis and evil spirits that are said to consume those who enter their territory after nightfall.

The combination of mythology, fantasy and humour fails to create the intended impact, leaving the film weighed down by an off-colour and often uncomfortable narrative.
