Kasargod, Mar 31: Raghav Cheral, head, Udaya Higher Secondary School, Manjeshwar, handed over the management of the school to Mangalore Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, chairman, Catholic Board of Education, during a function held here recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Bishop D’Souza said that Udaya Higher Secondary School will be a boon for students in Manjeshwar and it will further improve its glory in the future.  “The administration of the school has been entrusted to Fr Herald Mascarenhas, parish priest, Manjeshwar, and correspondent of Infant Jesus English Medium School,” he added.

Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza, secretary, Catholic Board of Education, said that the school will impart secular studies with the prospect of creating communal harmony in the locality.

Cheral explained the path trod by Udaya Higher Secondary School over the past 30 years. He said that the rural students who studied at the school have had a better future and thanked all those who contributed for the growth of the school.

Kasargod deanery vicar Fr Vincent D’Souza, Udaya Higher Secondary School parents-teachers association president Yacqoub Moideen, head master Ganapati Bhat, and Manjeshwar gram panchayat member Harischandra were present on the occasion.

Ganapati Bhat welcomed the gathering.  Fr Herald Mascarenhas proposed the vote of thanks while Harischandra compered the programme.

Bishop D’Souza was offered a grand welcome by Manjeshwar parishioners in a motorcade up to Udaya School.

Udaya Higher Secondary School is located beside Varkady Road, just one  kilometer from Hosangady on NH 66.  It’s recognized by Kerala state government, and classes from Class VIII to Class X are being conducted.  It also has nursery and primary division.
