Mangaluru, Oct 7: CSUO Celine D'Silva of 6 KAR AIR SQN NCC, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, was among the cadets who participated in the first NCC Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO) Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) course – Batch II, conducted from September 21 to 26, at KSRCT, Erode, Tamil Nadu.
The six-day training programme was conducted at the NCC RPTO established by 5 TN Air Sqn NCC in collaboration with KSRCT. The RPTO is India's first NCC RPTO authorised by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), marking an important development in structured drone training within the National Cadet Corps.




The programme provided participating cadets with comprehensive exposure to drone operations through theoretical instruction, simulator training and practical flying. The theoretical sessions covered drone regulations, fundamentals of flight, aerodynamics, airspace and communication procedures, drone components and operations, mission planning and navigation. Further training included weather and meteorology, equipment maintenance, risk assessment and safety management, payload handling, and an introduction to drone data and analysis.
The practical phase included simulator training followed by hands-on drone flying. Cadets were trained in essential pre-flight procedures, drone operations, basic troubleshooting and emergency procedures before progressing to practical flying and competency assessments.
Following the successful completion of the required theory, simulator and practical assessments, CSUO Celine D'silva successfully obtained the Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC)/License.
The training provided valuable practical exposure to remote piloting and highlighted the growing role of drone technology within NCC. The programme also contributed to license strengthening structured drone training opportunities for NCC cadets and developing practical skills in an emerging field of aviation technology.
