Bantwal, Apr 3: ‘Sakala’, Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizen Act – 2011, ensuring IT-enabled efficient, transparent and accountable administration through www.sakala.kar.nic.in was launched in the taluk amidst a verbal duel between elected representatives on Monday April 2.

The tiff between local MLA B Ramanath Rai and BJP leaders caused chaos at the inaugural of Sakala at the taluk office on Monday morning.

Local BJP leaders arrived at the venue at about 10.30 am on Monday.

The state Bala Bhavan Society chairperson Sulochana G K Bhat, TP president Shailaja Shetty, vice-president Dinesh Amtoor, town councilor Dinesh Bhandary, Bantwal Urban Development Authority (BUDA) chairman Govind Prabhu, and Ramdas Bantwal took deputy Tahsildar Kishore Kumar to task for an unorganized programme.  They said that it’s an ambitious programme of the state administration.  It needs general awareness, while the revenue department officials have not invited a majority of people’s representatives and organized the programme in the presence of a few departmental officers.

MLA Rai who arrived at this time, took the BJP leaders to task for not following up with state administration in replacing the Tahsildar who was arrested by Lokayukta police over a bribery case.  At this juncture, the BJP leaders pointed a finger at Rai stating that he has the responsibility, as an elected member of the legislative assembly, in the appointment of Tahsildar.  The chaos started at this moment.

Meanwhile, both the parties patched up at about noon and Rai inaugurated Sakala in the presence of BJP leaders and people’s representatives.
