Mangaluru, Oct 12: Several passengers and the driver of a private bus sustained minor injuries after a hawk crashed into the front windscreen of the vehicle near Haleyangady on the National Highway.
The Lakshmi Ganesh non-stop bus was travelling from Mangaluru to Karkala when the bird struck the windscreen with force, shattering the glass.
Despite glass shards falling on him, the driver, Harish Poojary, a resident of Koorelu in Puttur, remained calm and managed to bring the bus under control.
A momentary loss of control could have caused the bus to veer into the highway divider, potentially resulting in a major accident. Passengers appreciated the driver's presence of mind and quick response.
The driver and some passengers reportedly suffered minor injuries in the incident.
