Udupi, Oct 28: Sanky Baba Poojarthi (89), a senior religious devotee from the Gujjarbettu Kantu Poojary family of Paduthonse, Kallianpur, Udupi, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, October 28, following a brief illness.
She was the senior family member and an elderly female Daivaradhaki of the ancestral family shrine of the Sri Dharma Jarandaya family deities.
She is survived by three sons, including Tonse Sanjeeva Poojary and Jaya Poojary Tonse, hoteliers in Jeri Meri, Greater Mumbai, and JC Shekhar Gujjarbettu, former president of the Billavas Seva Sangha Association, Santhekatte, besides a brother and a large extended family.
Tonse Sanjeeva Poojary is the honorary general secretary of the Tonse Sri Brahma Baidarkala Pancha Dhoomavathi Garodi Seva Trust, Mumbai.
Family sources said the last rites will be held at Gujjarbettu on Wednesday, October 28, at around 3 pm.
