New Delhi, Oct 30: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the deadlines for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in five states and the Union Territory of Delhi, providing additional time for voters to submit claims and objections. The revised schedule covers Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Nagaland and Delhi.
According to the revised timetable, the final electoral rolls in Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Nagaland will be published on November 30, 2026. Delhi will follow a separate schedule, with its final electoral roll scheduled for publication on December 22.
The latest extension follows requests from the respective Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) and comes amid judicial scrutiny of the voter-list revision exercise. The Supreme Court had recently asked the Election Commission not to insist on a rigid cut-off date for accepting relevant voter applications in Delhi and to continue processing them while verifying the necessary documents.

In Maharashtra, the deadline for filing claims and objections has been extended from October 26 to November 13. The period for issuing notices and disposing of claims and objections has also been extended until November 25. The final electoral roll will be published on November 30. The draft electoral roll in the state was published on August 31.
In Delhi, voters will now have until November 25 to submit claims and objections instead of the earlier October 30 deadline. The period for issuing notices and disposing of claims has been extended from November 30 to December 15. The final electoral roll will be published on December 22.
In Andhra Pradesh and Haryana, the notice and disposal process will continue until November 20, while the final electoral rolls in both states will be published on November 30.
Similarly, in Nagaland, the notice and disposal period has been extended until November 25, while Telangana has been given time until November 26 to complete the process. Both states will publish their final electoral rolls on November 30.
The Election Commission has directed the concerned authorities to give wide publicity to the revised schedule and inform political parties about the changes. The move is aimed at ensuring that eligible voters get adequate opportunities to have their names included in the electoral rolls and seek corrections wherever necessary.
The Special Intensive Revision is part of the Election Commission's nationwide exercise to update electoral rolls and ensure their accuracy. The third phase of the exercise, announced on May 14, covers 16 states and three Union Territories.
Voters can check the revised schedules and access assistance through the Election Commission's official Voters' Service Portal.
