New Delhi, Oct 31: Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah has married journalist Nidhi Razdan in New Delhi, with the couple announcing their wedding through social media posts on Saturday.

The marriage was solemnised on Friday under the Special Marriage Act, with family members from both sides serving as witnesses, sources said.

Sharing four photographs with Razdan on Instagram and X, Abdullah wrote, “A new journey began yesterday”, while tagging her in the posts. Razdan also shared the news on X, writing, “It’s done bro”. Both posts featured a ring emoji.

The wedding celebrations in Srinagar and New Delhi were attended by close family members and relatives from both sides. Those present included Abdullah's parents, Farooq Abdullah and Mollie, his three sisters, and Razdan's parents, veteran journalist M K Razdan and Sarla Razdan.

The wedding marks a new chapter in the personal lives of the 56-year-old Abdullah and 49-year-old Razdan. It is the second marriage for both.

Abdullah's marriage comes three months after the Supreme Court granted him and his former wife Payal Abdullah a divorce by mutual consent on July 31. The couple, who married in 1994, have two sons, Zahir and Zamir.

According to the Supreme Court order, the couple had been living separately since 2011 and agreed that their marriage had broken down irretrievably. They also agreed to withdraw all pending cases against each other as part of the settlement.

Razdan, a former executive editor and news anchor with NDTV, was previously married to journalist and lyricist Neelesh Misra. The couple married in 2005 and divorced in 2007.
