Water Crisis in INDIA in most states esp. Karnataka is all MAN-MADE. Govt fully responsible for this MIS MANAGEMENT. Perhaps, INDIA needs to outsource itself on such governance like water resourcing to Singapore or some ARAB nations. They well manage without rains and drinking water resource, 24/7 water supply.

This is only to create some employment to some tanker driver's good Idea. I will also have to buy a tanker, to have piece of the cake. God bless our politicians, only if I will be able to make some money.

In Mangalore administration is seriously suffering from management crisis.Everything about basic probelems of the people are being chalked out at the last minute.Like tackling drinking water problem at the fag end of the summer!!! Problem of sea errosion during heavy rainy season etc., etc.,!!!
This shows that neither the authorities at District level or peoples representatives are serious about the dire need of the people.

Last year we had enough rain falls in our Coastal Area, yet we face water shortage in April this year. But surprisingly, if they get enough funds which they demanded, they can solve the water crisis soon. It means water is not a problem. Water is available somewhere else but they want to flourish their water tanker business. Water comes under “Esma” Law so let them seize all water tanks available in Coastal Area and pay them proper rental charges later but start providing water soon for all. They should also take care of proper water storage facility wherever they face water crisis this time. We can bring International T20 to Mangalore City, we can bring multi shopping mall to Mangalore City, we can spend multi millions on religious functions but why can’t they generate enough funds to solve water crisis at least?

The ground reality of water scarcity will make a rather grim reading. India possesses an estimated 1,123 billion cubic metres (bcm) of utilisable water per year, comprising 690 bcm of surface water and 433 bcm of replenishable ground water. Out of the replenishable ground water, the stark reality is that only 58 per cent is used for a host of purposes. On top of this, as much as over 80 per cent of the country's rural domestic water needs & about 50 per cent of its urban and industrial water needs are being met from ground water sources. Again, roughly 45 per cent of created irrigation potential is through exploitation of ground water resources. All this makes the demand on fast depleting ground water a colossal call.
Besides, there is the alarming trend in the last few decades of indiscriminate exploitation of ground water resources for domestic, irrigation and industrial uses and also for the unplanned urbanisation which have wreaked distressing depletion of limited ground water resources in certain parts of the country.
A day will come when we are forced to trap all the rain water that is flowing to the sea. Hence, why don't the authority, the State and the Central Govt thing of this seriousness of it immediately. The overflowing rivers should be trapped by creating artificial lakes, canals, tanks, wells and pits along its flow path. Let the local panchayat start building a series of such smaller dams with local labours, these dams will act as ponds with stagnant water which can save a lot of wild lives and can avoid flood as well as the water can be diverted through small canals and underground pipes. Recharge the water table on a war footing or in the coming years most of our bore-wells will go dry.
    Jaago! India, Jaago!

No need to panic!Mid April to MAY month, this is common scene in our district. What we need is permanent solution for this. Preservation of rainy water through "INGU GUNDI" one hand and other "MALE KOILU".Apart from that CONSERVE WATER...USE INTELLIGENTLY..After all water is LIFE and life line..
