Bangalore: Couple Shows Exemplary Humanity Despite Son's Death in Accident

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, May 3: It was great humanity personified. A young couple who lost their only son in a tragic accident near Bangalore airport on the early hours of Wednesday May 2, donated his eyes when they heard their son could not be saved.

Inconsolable grief did not prevent the parents of Mohit Gowda, a six-year-old boy, from donating his eyes, in a moving display of human concern.

Rajarajeshwari residents Pradeep Kumar (41), a cable operator in city, his wife Reena (34), and Reena's sister Uma (37) were coming back from Bangalore International Airport after bidding goodbye to Pradeep Kumar's parents who were travelling to USA to see their another son there.

As it was 5 in the morning, visibility was also low, and moreover, the driver of the cab they hired, Sunil Kumar (22) was driving all through the night. He lost control over the vehicle and hit the divider near Hosur flyover. 6-year-old Mohit Gowda who was thrown out of the car suffered injury on his chest, and all others including the driver too suffered serious injuries.

Though Mohit was taken to Columbia hospital, doctors could not save him.

On learning the shocking news of their only son's death, the couple made a bold decision despite their pain and requested the doctors to donate his eyes so that some unfortunate kid could see the world through Mohit's eyes.

Pradeep's parents, on learning the news of the accident, rushed back from the Airport cancelling the US trip and attended the cremation of their grandson.

I think this should be the attitude of all as this will give lives to those who need organs of the one who want such vital organs. Mohit Gowda may your soul rest in eternal peace and give comfort to the bereaved family. Mohit even though you are no more but someone is going to see through your eyes. Pradeep and Reena may god give the courage to bear the loss of your child and I am sure God will bless you abundantly.

    Hi All,
The coupls have taken the best decision in their life.I stand strong with them. But what about the cab driver,if he would have taken proper rest, this incident could have been averted.I would suggest the BIA authorities to check the status of the drivers, before they get behind the killer wheels.MY CONDOLENCE TO THE FAMILY

    Hi,

Such a noble cause of donating the son's eyes in the midst of their tragedy.

While the good Lord will surely shower his blessings on them, I suggest such deeds should be made known to all through a function by the Govt. or the local authorities.

Some what like a Bravery / Good Deed award on Rajothsava day or something similar.

Dear Pradeep and Reena while I convey our heartfelt sympathies on the demise of your son, congratulations and God Bless on the Great deed that you have done.

    Kind Regards

Good decision taken immediately by master mohit's parents - really appreciated. It's up to family members to decide to donate organs of there near dear ones for needy people. No need to register in advance - decision might change at last moment.

The donor should be informed of the identity of the recipient so that they could see part of their son's body is alive and the recipient could see the great people who made his/her life worth living.
May God bless this couple with another child.

It is very sad to note this, however it is strongly adviced to wear seat belts including people sitting on the rear side of the vehicle. It is not that, one wears seatbelts since police fine them. Finally it is SAFETY of valuable lives.
