The media release states:
"The Mangalore SEZ Ltd (MSEZL) is endeavoring to develop an industrial park in the Special Economic Zone and stands for sustained and balanced development of DK region, in accordance with the prevalent laws guiding all citizenry.
In the background of the incidents that transpired on May 2 at our MUDA office, it needs to be noted that a writ petition No 11630/2012 PIL is pending adjudication before the high court of Karnataka in the matter.
The agitators who laid siege to our office were triggered by almost all the names that figure in the said PIL. It is apparent that the demonstrations at our MUDA office were premeditated with a motive to elicit assurance under coercion, while the matter is subjudice.
Against this backdrop MSEZL would like to clarify that,
• Development of pipeline-cum-road corridor over a width of 70/100 mtrs, parallel to the Gurupur river in the section opposite KISCO area forms a part of our Environment Clearance (EC). This was issued based on CRZ recommendation to MoEF.
• The EC recognizes construction of reinforced earth walls and elevated roadway over structures (railways/minor bridges) for construction of the pipeline-cum-road corridor
• MSEZL is developing the pipeline-cum-road corridor with a width of 20 m only in this section as against the permitted width of 70/100 mtrs, taking cognisance of the local constraints in the area next to the Gurupur river.
• Necessary permissions from WRDO, GoK for strengthening the river bank and also for construction of Road over Bridge for 30 m have already been obtained.
• While executing the corridor in line with the routing forming part of our EIA and EC over a narrower width, there are sections of approx 230 mtrs over reinforced earthen walls and 30 mtrs. of road over bridge which require temporary access for their construction.
• Directions given by CRZ are duly complied with.
This stands testimony to MSEZL’s commitment to abide by the law of the land and judicial process."
