Kasargod: Women Stage Unique Protest for Endosulfan Victims at DC Office

Kasargod, May 11:
The women family members of Endosulfan victims staged a protest by cooking food in front of the office of District Commissioner (DC) here on Thursday May 10, to oppose the apathy of state administration over the plight of Endosulfan victims.

Hundreds of women boycotted cooking at home and boiled rice in an innovative protest in front of the DC’s office here on Thursday.

Human rights activist K Ajita inaugurated the protest on Thursday morning. The protest committee president N K Radhakrishnan presided.

M Sumati, women Congress leader Shantamma Philip, women Morcha Pramila C Nayak, Bhargavi, Shailaja, Jyoti Narayanan, V P Rajani, T Shobhana, and C R Nilakantan were present on the occasion.

Endosulfan struggle committee will embark on a signature campaign and intensify the struggle as the protest that is underway in front of the DC office reached 20 days on Wednesday May 9.  Various political parties, litterateurs, social welfare and voluntary organizations expressed support for Endosulfan victims.
