Mangalore, May 12: The members of the Bajrangdal and Durga Vahini protested against the newly released movie, Katariveera Surasundarangi, in front of two theatres Suchithra and Big Cinemas, Bharath Mall, in the city today by burning the posters of the film and shouting slogans against the film-makers.
Upendra and Ambarish are seen in the main role in the film and the protesters shouted slogans against them, alleging that they are against Hindutva. Sharan Pumpwell alleged that the film contains some scenes and dialogues that affect the sentiments of the Hindus.
They have satirized the Devaloka and other devotional places in the film. The movie contains unacceptable scenes such as a person having inclination towards Indra’s daughter and taking her to earth, alleged the protesters.
The members warned the theatre staffs to close down the show with immediately. They would take strict measures if the film show continues, protesters told the press. The protesters burnt the film posters in front of both the theatres and expressed their anger by shouting slogans against the film makers.
Bajrangdal leaders Sharan Pumpwell, Harish Amtady, Pradeep Pumpwell, Puneeth, Pramod Suvarna, Sunil among many others were present. As many as 50 protesters gathered in the venue to express their anger.
