Kasargod, May 13: Widespread damage to private property across the district has been reported due to heavy rains accompanied with thunder, lightning and gales on the night of Saturday May 12. A youth in Periya died after he was struck by lightning.
The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Rameshan, son of Narkulan and Narayani, residing at Chalingal–Malattuparamba in Periya gram panchayat. He died when lightning struck as he was conversing on his mobile. He was employed in a building construction firm.
Several houses across the district were damaged alongwith electronic items due to heavy rains and gales.
