Mangalore, May 14: A person identified as Sadashiva who was riding his two wheeler (Honda Activa) had a miraculous escape after his vehicle came beneath a private bus plying to Shaktinagar (Ambika) near Valencia here on Monday May 14 around 1.15 pm.

As alleged by the eye witnesses, the learner driver in a driving school car (City Driving School, Hampanakatta) that was moving ahead of the Activa suddenly applied brake which resulted in the accident. They also alleged that though the master of the driving school car accompanied the learner, he was busy talking over the phone.

As a result of unexpected brake, the rider fell off his Activa and was thrown out of the vehicle. Luckily he fell on the other side of the road and sustained minor injuries. The two wheeler was dragged by the bus damaging it to some extent.

Traffic police arrived at the spot immediately. Case is yet to be registered in this regard.

Local mob who rushed to the help of the injured told Daijiworld that driving school cars should not be allowed on the busy traffic areas as such accident cases were earlier too reported in the city.

Accidents and its consequences are unpleasant. Instead of pointing fingers at others, let us follow the traffic rules and avoid accidents.

It is my observation that present day 2 wheeler riders lack road etiquette. Even in the Udupi Manipal Double road, they seem to get pleasure in riding in the middle of the road, even when there no other vehicles in other lanes...leading slowdown of traffic. Changing lanes, winding like snakes, overtaking from wrong side, riding on the wrong side are considered privilege by riders. All this in spite of couple of ghastly death of 2 wheeler riders on this road due to negligence!

Justice Smith, Dubai, your defensive driving theory doesn't apply to this part of the planet. What prevails here is law of jungle, you've got to see it to believe it.

Any driver can apply brake at any time for any unexpected sceene.Well it is the duty of rear vehicle to maintain safe distance from front vehicle. What is the distance required. Watch your speed and you should able to stop your vehicle without making contact with front vehicle. So it is not 5 metre or 10 metre. It depends on your car size /weight and road condition and most important is your car speed.Dont blame here to the bus or the driving school car.If I give the judgement I will charge the scooter driver for his negligence

It is the responsibility of the person riding or driving behind to keep safe distance from the vehicle infront.in this case the applying of brake may be unnecesary but what if some body suddenly jumps across the car?

Ashok, Udupi/Dubai Thanks for sharing your knowledge on English however the my comment was not to enlighten anyone with English knowledge but to highlight the state of driving lessons that you get in our home town i.e India. We could avoid more of these accidents if we try to focus on the REAL thing than trying to put someone down.

Dear Rani, Udupi - Classes & Sessions are two different things. In class you learn more. Thats why it took 2 tests to get the driving license in London.

"Local mob who rushed to the help of the injured told Daijiworld that driving school cars should not be allowed on the busy traffic areas"
The mob is more of a "Frog in the Pond". If the learning drivers do not know how to drive in such places, accidents are surely to happen as they do not know how to drive safely.
I would blame the instructor for not paying attention to the learners driving and Mr. Sadashiva for not maintaining a safe distance from the learning car.
Come to UAE and see how new drivers are taught.

In India, I went to 30 classes of half hour duration but couldnt get a grip on driving. However I was given the licence without any hesitation when I gave the test the first time (Obviously a big fee was collected from me by the Driving School).

When in Europe I had only 10 sessions of half hour duration and I was able to learn driving without any difficulty however I had to give two tests to pass the driving test since I was not found capable of driving in the first time.
    Who to blame here?

Thanks to God Almighty Sadashiva's life saved. Two wheelers/bikes, must be handled with accuracy, patience, skill and most importantly responsibility. You need to remember that some one is always waiting for you @ home.

What kind of mentality people have. Suddenly applied brakes and that is the cause of accident. Vehicle drivers does not even know that they are supposed to maintain and safe distance between the vehicles. Sudden brake is essential in some unavoidable circumstances.
