Puttur, May 21: In a tragic incident reported from Katara in Bellippady village here on Sunday May 20, a youth who went to swim in the river got drowned.
The victim is identified as Arshad (18) son of Hamid, a resident of Banari near Mura in the outskirts of Puttur.
The deceased Arshad with his friends Ayub Khan, Shamshuddin and Nithin Banari went to Katari in two bikes. In Katara, Arshad alone entered into the river. It is said that a stone slipped off and hit the victim which caused his immediate death on the spot.
Gram Panchayath member Ramanna Gowda rushed to the spot for inquiry. A case is registered in town police station.
