Mangalore: Winners of State-level Chitara Drawing Contest Awarded Prizes

Mangalore, Jun 2: 'Chitara' friends group organized a programme on Saturday June 2 at Hotel Woodlands here, to distribute prizes to the winners of a state-level drawing competition held recently.
Bags and umbrellas for needy students were also distributed on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief of daijiworld.com said that the efforts put in by the Chitara group to help needy students was indeed praiseworthy.
"Such a solid group is necessary to bridge the gap between the poor and the rich, otherwise the needs of the poor will go unrecognized and unfulfilled," he said.
"Not all social reformers or social service groups come from the affluent backgrounds, what matters is their willingness to come forward and reach out to the poorest of the poor and bring them to the notice of the well-to-do," he explained.
He lauded the winners of painting competition and also the organizers for providing such a platform.
Senior artist Dinesh Holla, associate president of Udayavani group Anand K and artist Vishnu Shevgoor also spoke and congratulated the group.
Chitara member Chandrshekar Pathoor briefed on the activities the group. He informed that the group consists of as many as 7 members who have come together with the sole motive of encouraging art, literature and social activities.
Dhiraj D Katipalla, Jayashri Sharma, Madhav Rao of Kadri and Swapna Noronha bagged the top prizes in painting competition.
The poor and needy students of Keddalike School were given bags and umbrellas. Sathish Ira, member of Chitara group, read out the names of the winners.
K Krishna Bhat compered and Dayanand Kukkaje thanked everyone on the occasion.
