Kasargod, Aug 27 : Continuing the hunt for counterfeit currency criminals, Kasargod police have made third arrest within a span of week. On Monday, police arrest 36-year-old Abdul Naasar from Anangur pachakad.
It can be recalled that, Kannagad Kaidakkad Abdul Jabbar, Bantwal Usman have been already arrested last week in this regard.
Police are still hunting for Chetan, the driver of main accused Moideen Haji native of Udupi residing in Dubai.
Abdul Nasser had also received counterfiet currency from Usman, he was absconding after the arrest news of Usman and Jabbar. Police have revealed that, fearing arrest, Nasser had burnt counterfeit worth Rs 7 Lac. But police have found pieces of paper notes from his residence. The remains of counterfeit sent to forensic lab for verification.
During the investigations, it has also come across that the key accused Moideen Haji owns a printing press in Dubai that is specifically used for printing the fake notes. Police have also recovered information that a tender worth Rs 1.5 crore of fake notes has been completed.
From investigations another fact that has arisen is that, not only from Mangalore but also from Bangalore Airport a huge amount of fake notes have been moving around.
Further information has been obtained that the fake notes were hidden in between clothes, perfumes and many other items as a mode of transfer.
Several people from Dakshina Kanada Udupi, Kasargod are involved in this case and the investigation team is trying to obtain more information on this racket.
The people involved in the fake currency trade have been linked to the coral business also. Hence the search is targeted on such businesses.
Detained Abdul Basheer has also been involved in several other cases.
