What a tragedy..........The drivers of such tankers are often found driving carelessly. They are arrogant too. Authorities need to take action. It is told that more tankers were following but they were stopped. KSEB did a good job by switching off the lines.

This a tragic and sad incident during this happy occation of Onam. The road devider is invisible on many of our Roads,Monisha Unni a young filim artist dies on the devider accident, our great actor Jagthi Sreekumar is still bedridden due to the accident happend due to the Road devider. This type of accident does not happen anywhere in the world. The road devider should have the light in the starting and ending so that there is an alert to the drivers.Let us value the life of our people. Most of these type accidents happen due to the poor visibility,Let this be an eye opener to all the concerned.A serious review to be done in this matter so that this does not happen again.

A tragedy could have been averted had the law enforcing authorities keep vigil on our highways. Narrow roads, lack of sign boards, drunken driving, irresponsibly blocking the roads by way of parking and erection of banners, the reasons are many. Keep a vigilant eye by all concerned people. Like all other social problems we can tackle this also only with collective cooperation of the people concerned.

This is the tragedy in waiting in Mangalore also. Please see the number of LPG tankers moving from MRPL Mangalore towards Bangalore and other destinations. The national highway from Kuntikan junction to pumpwell is always blocked with tankers in the evening. To jamming between Polytechnic and Nanthur cross is mindblowing. Even the Shirdi ghat highway on the Mlor-Blore route is always stuck with these LPG loaded tankers. With increasing traffic and erratic driving,Mangalore is just waiting for such a tragedy unless the govt agencies take proper action immidiately. The death of Bondala Jaganath Shetty is one such example where death occurred due to collision with a tanker. Wake up Mangalore!

I TEND TO AGREE WITH BULSAM HERE.
PEOPLE GENERALLY DRIVE THEIR VEHICLES EITHER WITH ARROGANCE OR OVER-CONFIDENCE OR FATIGUE.
    FATIGUE IS CATASTROPHIC.
THAT IS WHAT MUST HAVE HAPPENED HERE.
NORMALLY DRIVER WITH SUCH VEHICLES IS AWARE OF THE DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE HE IS CARRYING.
HOWEVER TRANSPORT COMPANIES URGE THEM TO DO MORE OVERTIME.
THIS ANGLE MUST BE INVESTIGATED AND MUST BE MADE MANDATORY IN THE REGULAR INSPECTIONS (IF AT ALL THEY EXIST).
    LIKE ALWAYS GOD SAVE US.

In India, particularly in Kerala, the local Panchayat are having field day and nobody is there to check them while violating the NH rules. They put dividers, erect circles, arches, unscientific Round-Abouts, Drum/Tyre Circles and what not without any sign boards or road surface markings to help guide the speeding drivers. When the tired driver speeding through so many fatal obstacles in the mid-night empty roads, it’s pure luck that so many still survive from dangerous killer traps like the blinding blocks of unmarked road-dividers, carelessly parked vehicles on the road-bends, stray cattle sleeping on the road, un-scientific humps and killer pot-holes, left-over boulders by break-down vehicles etc.
According to statistics, nearly one lakh people are killed and ten lakhs are seriously injured every year in road accidents in India. The Planning Commission had assessed the social cost of road accidents in the year 1999-2000 was 55,000 Crores, which constitutes about 3 % of Indian GDP and by now it must have crossed two lakh Crores.
At least 90% of road accidents can be avoided, simply by strictly enforcing the speed limits, installing sign boards and painting road surface marks. It is possible if the Government have the will to control the local Panchayat, rouge lorry drivers, rural stray animal owners and moreover, if the NH authority implement the National Highway safety rules.
That means 90,000 innocent life can be saved and Rs. 1.80 lakh Crores public fund can be saved every year.
    Jai Hind!
