Mangalore, Sep 2: In a suspected case of murder, the body of a woman was found at a half-constructed building near Felix Pai Bazaar, GHS Road here on Sunday September 2.

The deceased has been identified as Amuni, a resident of Kateel. She was around 45 years of age.

It is said that she was from a poor background and dumb, and used to collect scrap in the area. She had been taking shelter in the building for the last 20 years, doing odd jobs like cleaning and so on for neighbours.

It is said that she had married thrice, and had a relationship with a fourth man identified as Shravan.

She had two children by her first husband, who reportedly sold both the kids for money. She lived with him in Kateel before he passed away, and went on to marry twice again.

According to sources, on the night of the murder, Shravan allegedly was drunk and intoxicated with ganja, and had a quarrel with Amuni. In a fit of rage he is said to have hit her. Police are now on the lookout for Shravan who is absconding.

Sources said that the construction of the building in question was stopped mid way due to some dispute. It may be mentioned here that the building is notorious for illegal activities like drug peddling, and last year in October, another murder had taken place on its second floor.

The murder is suspected to have occured on the night of Saturday September 1, and the incident came to light on Sunday morning.

A fingerprint expert who was at the spot told Daijiworld that there were injury marks on her head which indicate that she might have been hit with a heavy object.

DCP Dharmaiah, circle inspector Vinay Gaonkar along with sniffer dog squads rushed to the spot.

The body has been shifted to Wenlock for post-mortem.

The MCC should take over this property or allow the owner of the building to build wall around with door and key so that the place will not be misused by rag pickers, drug peddlers, prostitutes and pimps.
    MCC! Wake up!!

It is pity that no one did anything to help this poor woman when she was alive and was struggling to make ends meet.Governments and politicians are busy filling their own pockets rather than helping poor people in need.

Amuni is no more. She married thrice, she had children from her first husband and was forced to sell children due to sever poverty .She was doing some odd jobs for her living. She was living in that half-constructed building for last twenty years.
See the rush police force and dog squads and govt. officials now. None of them were much bothered about her till yesterday. In our society a dead body of a human being is more respected than a living person in distress.
She has left behind a severe and concerned message for our society. It is a wake-up call for all of us. There may be thousands of such cases of in-secure and helpless people around Mangalore city and around who are living in such condition. Let us respect human being HERE than HERE-AFTER.

This is the height of crime. The woman without family or property makine her living in that way for her age and people won't leave them also. I really can't imagine where are we going to end up with. People have absolutely no fear of god, leave alone our police of legal system. I sincerly hope things will change for our lovely Mangalore.
