Mangalore: Heavy Downpours Lead to Water Logging Near City Centre

Mangalore, Sep 6: Owing to heavy downpours of rainfall during the past couple of days and improper drain facilities, the roads outside City Center Mall have been flooded.

Traffic and pedestrians are finding it difficult to move around which is inturn causing chaos on the streets outside the mall.

Authorities negligence is what the public are concerned about. The rainwater infrastructure in the city is not sufficient and as a result the low-lying areas get inundated.

The place needs proper attention in terms of  water drains and free flow of rain water.

Our MLA's, their babu's and officials on study tour. So they don't have time and money to spend for drainage. Sight seeing is most important than to put an end to people's suffering. Jai ho....Mangalore is as dirty as these politicians and babus...

this is what happens when we say international but dont know the meaning in the true sense. International should always be combine n compared with local issues n then implemented then we can call ourselves truly international because we are incorporating our culture into it.point si we are all copy cats. n doing half homework while on study tours n half work by eating 3/4 s ogf the actual money alloted.

    M'lore going mumbai way!!!
Mangalore city never witnessed any water logging ever since. This is due to rapid urbanisation of the city. City is growing rapidly but the basic nesecities like road ,drainage is neglected. We will see more of these in coming years.

This happens every monsoon in the city. People are used to putting up with this inconvenience, like many others in the city. This has made the local municipality lethargic and unaccountable. Until and unless the public and the media take up this issue and make those responsible for taking care of water drains to task, this issue will forever persist.

Government offices in India are well known for inefficiency, unaccountability and corruption. Only general public and media can help address this effectively.

Mangalore is fast developing city,so it required good drainage system, otherwise here may happen same like Bangalore, children wash away to drainage, flood in residencial area, for this MCC can ask co operation with builders, construction, construction companies and shopping malls who are main beneficiary in cities,.

MANGALOREANS SUFFERING FROM DRAINAGE PROBLEM SINCE THE CONCRETE ROAD PROJECT STARTED.

THE GENIUS ENGINEERS OF MCC ARE PROVED USELESS. THIS PROBLEM STARTED BECAUSE OF THEIR POOR PLANING, NEGLECTED SUPERVISION AND CARELESSNESS.

    PEOPLES REPRESENTATIVES ARE THE BENEFICIARIES.

PLEASE GIVE THE DRAINAGE PLANING TO ANY SCHOOL GOING CHILDREN. THEY WILL DO THE JOB IN A BETTER WAY.

The water drainage system in the cities in India is very very bad. Mangalore is no exception. Countries like Singapore, Hongkong, etc have a wonderful drainage system. Even if there is heavy downpour the water is drained in no time. India should think on these lines before developing cities.
