Mangalore, Sep 10: 'Mosaru Kudike', a pot-breaking ceremony that marks Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, was held in the city with great vigour and excitement on the night of Sunday September 9.

Youths from various clubs came together and joined in the act of breaking pots by forming pyramids.

As every year, this time too it made a breathtaking sight for all those who had gathered at Attavar, Padil and Kadri to watch the spectacle. Despite rain, large crowds witnessed Mosaru Kudike, cheering the participants all through.

Earlier, pots were filled with milk or curds but these days to add more fun to the celebration, pots are filled with coloured water, flowers and coins. Human pyramids are formed in order to break the pots as they are tied high.

To add grace to the occasion, a number of decorated trucks depicting Lord Krishna’s life were taken on a procession, accompanied by the traditional tiger dance and Nasik band.

Mosaru Kudike is a festival similar to Dahi Handi festival celebrated in parts of Maharashtra.

We can see even “Rama Sene” too participated in cultural ceremony. So we need more & more cultural program so that these “Sene” involves themselves in more good activities rather than taking law in their hands though they are targeting illegal business around the City but it causing trouble for extreme fun lover
