Dubai, Sep 16: The Emirates Pangalites, UAE celebrated their Decennial Monthi Feasth on Friday, 14th September 2012 at the party hall, Bangalore Empire Hotel, Karama, Dubai. 

The highlight of the celebrations was the Mother Mary’s grotto prepared by Ignatius Alva and group which added festive feel to the celebration as per the tradition back home.

Several enthusiastic Pangalites and their relatives and friends gathered to celebrate the Monthi feast.






















































Walston D’sa a well-known compare from Pangla took charge of the program and passionately recounted the old memories back home of monthi fest celebrations with children with basket full of flowers marching towards the church, and then honoring the Mother Mary with showers of flowers.

The traditional celebration commenced with hyms, bajanas, prayer dance by Vedhisha and Viola, gospel reading followed by a procession by children, young and elders while singing the hymns ‘Sakkad Sangatha Mellyam and Moriyek Hogolsiam’.

The newly married couple of Pangla, Kevin and Reshma Machado from Dubai brought the new grain (Konsi) which was received by Mrs. Lilly D’Souza, a senior pangalite who is on visit to Dubai as per the tradition back home.  Novem was then distributed to all those who are present. 

Emirates Pangalites President Mr. Clevin D’Souza gave a warm welcome to the guest of honor Mr. Joseph Mathias of Merit Freight, Mr. Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld.com and Mr. Dayan D’Souza of Daiji Dubai and all the guests.

On behalf of the guests Mr. Joseph Mathias explained the significance of Monthi feast and briefly described how the Monthi Feast was originated.  He also stressed on the importance of Mother in everybody’s life.  He reminded all that it is our duty to respect our own parents.

Senior Member Dolphy D’mello talked about how the monthi fest was celebrated in Pangla and the importance of monthi fest to all pangalites.

Entertainment followed soon after by Clevin, Ashwin, Joel, Sunil and Sonia presenting comedy skits, Vidisha, Viola, Simon, Cyan presented the Hindi Mix dances.

Founder president Mr. Michael Castelino briefed about the decennial year celebrations and the 10 programs that is planned by Emirates Pangalites during the decennial year (2012-2013). He requested all the gathering to support in every way for all the programs and specially invited all for the Dashamanostav celebration which will be held on 25th December 2012 at St. John’s high School open ground. Pangla, Shankerpura.

Various spot games were efficiently conducted for kids and adults by Walston D’sa. A traditional vegetarian meal and vorn was served to all on banana leaves by Bangalore Empire hotel. The program was concluded by a game of house-house and vote of thanks by Secretary Ms. Veena Alva.
