Miami, Sep 25 (IANS/EFE): Puerto Rican actress Joemy Blanco plays a detective in the series "Las Detectivas y el Victor" (The Lady Detectives and Victor), inspired by "Charlie's Angels" and which will air on a new Spanish-language channel.
"The chance to play this part is fabulous, because I'll be a Latino version of one of Charlie's angels," she told EFE, referring to the 1976-81 series in which three sexy detectives solved cases as funny as they were mysterious.
Joemy plays the part of Camila Umana, a rich, elegant psychologist who, after being the victim of a fraud, decides to join a detective agency to work alongside her best friend, a Colombian designer named Chabela, played by Paola Rey.
"My character is fascinating because she's rather ingenuous, a little lost and longing for affection, like an adopted dog. And as an actress it was a challenge to rehearse the accent of a upper-class Colombian woman," she said.
Luckily, she said, she had a friend who inspired that character and who loves it when people tell her she reminds them of Camila, without knowing the truth, the actress said, adding that she was doubly happy to be shooting the series in Colombia, a country where she lived awhile as a little girl because of her father's work.
"In Colombia they do programmes with a lot of originality and creativity. What's more we have Pepe Sanchez, a great director and a very special team who make the programme very cool, very relaxing. It's something the whole family can enjoy," she said.
