Manglore, Oct 7: It was an evening of enchanting and soulful music as renowned German musicians Reinhard Armleder and Dagmar Hartmann performed a western classical music concert at the KTC auditorium here on Saturday October 6 evening.

The concert was jointly organized by the Karnataka Christian Communication Service and the consulate general of the Federal Republic of Germany, Bangalore.

Reinhard Armleder who plays the cello and Dagmar Hartmann who is a pianist together form the Karlsruher Konzert-Duo, and are much in demand in Germany as well as internationally. They have won international music competitions in various countries and have toured worldwide performing in concerts.

Their concert at the KTC auditorium was an enriching experience, the magic of their music transporting the audience into a different world, arresting their attention and fascinating the senses. By the end of the concert, it was evident that music lovers, who were present in considerable numbers, had being taken on a mystical journey they would cherish.

KACES secretary Dr Hannibal Cabral honoured the German musicians on the occasion.

I know you are being appreciative, but we should all be more careful with our words. Their colour and place of origin have nothing to do with their talent. I would be a little annoyed if I played somewhere and someone said "that dark Indian has great talent." :)

The contribution of German people to Indian society particularly to Mangalore is a lot. Fr. Muller hospital is one of the biggest. The things like opening of the Lutheran German Basel Mission in 1834 brought many cotton weaving and tile manufacturers to the city. In today's world some how we have lost that connection with Germany. Music is the one of the way to connect now.
