I completely agree with you, in last 10 years I have hardly heard of any accident in Ireland. Thank God never seen one!! There are few ofcourse but it's not a daily routine. But in India it seems to be a every day thing that happens and people forget that easily. I know Ireland is not as big as India but it's atleast bigger than Mangalore or udupi for that matter, which means these things can be avoided if society makes an effort collectively. There s no meaning in blaming the Govt as most commentors do here.

Keeping in mind the high number of accidents involving bikes, it is high time to have a separate lane in national highway for bike riders. In addition to this wake up RTO wake up.

Dear Readers it is reported in the news that "the Two Wheeler rider Umer was riding his Two Wheeler at High speeed and hit the School Bus which in ..." Refer the news above, last but one Para. Besides it is reported that the Umer is a First year PU student and his age is 18 but his his age may be around 16 and not 18 being a First year PU Student. A person above 16 and below 18 can not have Geared Two Wheeler license and drive a geared vehicle. Blaming the School Bus Driver is not reasonable in this case as Umer was at high speed and hit the School Bus besides his age factor and holding valid driving license. In this case, I agree with the comments of NAVEEN D'SOUZA, VALENCIA - KUWAIT and his reply to Mr.Jacob Nelson, Bejai and Mr. Arman, Mangalore. Let us be careful while driving and avoid miseries to one's family and to others. Jai Hind.

In most of the accidents involving two wheelers, it is actually the falt of two-wheeler drivers. They dont't follow any road rules and regulations. They cut sides and lanes with no respect for others and heavy vehicles which are more difficult to control. Just because a two wheeler is a smaller vehicle the blame always falls on the bigger vehicle involved in the accident(Indian traffic rule!)even though it may be totally the falt of the two wheeler driver. Unless the law punishes the one who is at fault in an accident(even if it is a smaller vehicle), nothing is going to change and accidents will continue to happen at regular intervals. There is no use of blaming the RTO or any one else.

May soul of deceased Mohammed Umer rest in peace. Heartfelt condolences to his family members.
When spate of accidents never on decline, what preventive measures our RTO and Government has taken? Are they not responsible for safety of citizens ? When they are giving orders to industries/establishments on safety, what prevents them from implementation by RTO which is in their control?

    I don't blame Driver alone.
Attentiveness and observation is must while driving.

It can be implimented by only introducing strict blood money law.

At 18 he is eligible for a DL. As an Indian citizen he is of voting age. When he can decide who should govern us, cant he handle a motorbike? Agreed youngsters tend to speed, doesnt mean he is at fault at all times.

Once again bus in the cause of accident!!! RTO officials, are you there? Instead of chasing truck drivers on highway, keep an eagles eye on these city and Express buses. I have an observation in Mangalore that drivers are very rashly driving on Surathkal routes (15, 45 etc ).

When there was Air India mishap and people lost there was a huge hue and cry in all of media and among the people. But people of India are not bothered about the road accidents which take more lives on a daily basis. More people are dying in India every year due to road accidents than during the war. The reasons are many and many of these deaths due to accidents can be prevented. We Indians tend to disrespect all rules, laws when it comes everything and Motor Vehicles Act is one of them. We need to change as a society to stop daily killings on the roads.
