Mangalore, Oct 8: A woman was killed in an accident that occurred on Monday October 8 on NH 66 near Mukka check post.

The deceased has been identified as Janet D'Souza (32), a resident of Chelyar.

The accident occured when Janet was on her way towards Mangalore, riding pillion with her husband Anthony. A truck loaded with cement hit the bike from behind, throwing Janet on to the road. She died on the spot.

Anthony who was also thrown off the two-wheeler landed on the left side of the road, and escaped with minor injuries. He is recuperating in a hospital in the city.

Janet was a teacher in Holy Spirit School, Mukka and had also taken charge of the office work in the school.

Her husband owns a tailoring shop in Chelyar. The couple have two daughters.

The lorry driver tried to escape from the scene with his lorry, but as the Suratkal police received information from the Mulky check post, the lorry was stopped in front of the police station and the driver was arrested.

It is very sad and unfortunate to see the sudden and unexpected deaths, on roads.
In the meantime, the possible solution is only with a little sacrifice i.e. by reducing the number of vehicles on roads. The vehicles cannot outnumber the population (as the mobiles do), due to limited roads.

It is very essential to use the two wheelers only in places where there is no public transport facilities, inner roads, small distances and by avoiding the highways completely.

It is natural that when an elephant moves several ants will be hurt. Therefore, it is essential to have a situation, where the buses and heavy vehicles can move with flexibility and safety, as they move the masses and tons of goods.

Encouraging the public transport, by reducing the individual and SUVs on roads, is a good option. Unless some compromise, cooperation and bargain, the authorities cannot solve the problems, automatically.

Why authorities are not interested to implement strict rules in India as in the case of many other countires???? Politicians/RTA only interested filling their pockets..Why can not they cancel licenses of repeated offenders???

THE MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT & HIGHWAYS, WAKEUP!
    THE NATIONAL/STATE-PWDs, WAKEUP!
    THE NATIONAL/STATE HIGHWAY AUTHORITIES, WAKEUP!
    THE COLLECTORS/DCs, WAKEUP!
    THE RTOs, WAKEUP!
    THE CORPORATIONS, WAKEUP!
    THE MUNICIPALITIES, WAKEUP!
    THE GRAMA PANCHAYATS, WAKEUP!
    THE STRAY CATTLE OWNERS, WAKEUP!

So many deaths Deaths after deaths Accidents kill more than diseases
As one step out of the house, either by walk, cycle, two wheeler or four wheelers, not sure whether he will reach back home dead or alive.
Either it is the back-streets, roadways, highways or expressways, people are just getting killed due to your negligence. Yes, your negligence and the judiciary should take action against all the above mentioned irresponsible lot. Do you know that you create road havoc instead of road safety, killer humps instead of speed breaks, killer dividers instead of guided carriageways, killer tyre/mega-circles instead of scientific circles, killer road edges instead of hard surfaced mud carriageways, killer blind-curves instead of smooth curves/pre-cautioned sign boards…?
You are not bothered to appoint expert consultants, you are not bothered to learn from the roads of the developed countries and you are not bothered to learn from your own mistakes.
    YOU BETTER WAKE-UP or
THE PUBLIC WILL WAKE YOU UP!!

May her soul Rest in Peace. How long it will take NHA to finish the Highway Work? In this area only oneside Highway is completed before Monsoon but it is so narrow for two way vehicles. Here the approach Road which is joining the Highway is so steep and dangerous for two wheelers. Approach Road joining places are completely neglected by NHA. There is half to one feet gap between Highway and Mud Road.

May the soul of JANET rest in eternal peace and give all the comfort to the bereaved husband, her daughters and family members and friends. It is a tragic loss and may the law give the driver the maximum punishment and see that his licence is suspended for life. He should not be given bail as he killed a innocent lady and also tried to flee a scene of accident.

May her departed soul rest in peace. Every now and then innocent people get killed in these so called road accidents. Would ever there be safer roads in India for commuters? would there be well trained drivers on Indian roads?? Would there any stringent laws come into force against these kind of pathetic driving conditions??? Would INDIA be a better place to live????
