It is a common sight in many of the Indian zoos were human beings will turn into their ancestors and behave like apes!! Infact it is pity to see many so called highly intelligent craeture among animal kingdom behave like monkeys!!Inspite of human misdeeds, if at all any accidents happens people are trying to save "the Man" rather than the endangered species!! Especially in a democratic country like us where " monkey" like politicians ruling us, there is no manners, rules and orders. Why can not they cage those who induge in 'monkey behaviours in zoos, when poor animals are caged for lives?? Any how lets pray for the kids safe recovery in this case.

The superintendent of this Zoo either inefficient person or having no commonsence. Fire him.
Get someone who can bring changes,
Bring safety, security to Visitors and rest. Every Zoo must be secure in all respect for Visitors.

There should be a certain distance maintained for the people to watch the animals.why sre these wild animals kept so close and there is no boundary maintained between the people and the cage. Its really heartbreaking to see the pictures!I pray for this little boy to get some help where the hand can be fixed and he can lead a normal life!

Mr.Dinesh Poojari, Kundapur/Bangalore:I partially agree with you. You said there is deep ditch near the wild animals cage at Mysore Zoo and it is correct. But we human beings tease wild animals a lot in the zoo and dare not to do in the forests. I lived in Mysore from 1984 to 1997, i.e., 13 years and have seen many visitors tease wild animals at Mysore Zoo specially Tamilians. Some years back at Mysore Zoo, a Tigress mauled a person who was a Tamilian when he fell in the ditch while posing for a photograph near the Cage and the cubs were in the ditch then. Immediately all the Tamilians who were there pelted stones at the cubs rather than trying to save the man. On hearing and seeing the cubs being attacked, Mother Tigress who was not in the ditch but in the open area near the cage, pounced on this Tamilian and mauled him to death. Had they not disturbed the animals, nothing would have happen.

Wild Animals are born free and their place of inhabitation is not the Zoo's but Forests. We selfish human beings keep them in the zoo for our entertainments and tease these animals in the zoos. I for one strongly feel all the zoos in the Country be dismantled and allow the wild animals to be free in their natural dwelling place which is forests. This is what Nature wants.

what is the point in blaming the zoo keepes and the child's parents what ever happened is very sad the boy lost one of his hands.Inspite of the warning put off we people like to watch and mock the animals one thing to remember after all they are wild animals suppose to live in the forest not in the cage for our amusment.

Saddened to see the picture. Dont know if it can be rejoined. I appeal people around him to give him moral support to meet challenges in life.
I came across a Pakistani guy here in Saudi and was surprised to know that a person who lost his hand as a child leads a normal life working in Khobar.

If you see Mysore Zoo, there is a cage and surrounding that, there is big ditch so that visitors can not come closer to animals. Only zoo authorities can enter.

Seeing this zoo, we can point out that it is not safe. Zoo authorities should atleast have a put sign board over there so that parents could have read it.

70% blame to ZOO and 30% blame to Parents in this case.

Every zoo displays signboards in at least 3 languages, warning the visitors, especially children against playing, harassing or teasing caged animals. In this context it is not right to put the entire blame on zoo authorities. The responsibility rests on parents / guardians.

Four year old boy in the Zoo without any proper care from the parents or gurdians,it is utterly a negligence in one's part!. Childrens always have thier curiosity mind in each and every work what they see. It is the parents guidence always guide the child to good and bad.I feel sorry for this child, who lost his hand because of his unknowing actions,a blame to the parents and to the Zoo management itself a kind of utter carelessness in one's part.

    1) Is it 4 year old child's fault to put the hand in the cage? :No. he does not know about the danger.

    2) Is it tiger's fault to bite his hand?: No. tiger can attack if he is hungry or sense some danger to him.

    3) Is it parents fault?: Partly Yes. They should have noticed the gap between those rails in the cage and not allowed the little child go near the cage.

    4) Is it zoo owener's / facilities fault?: Big yes. They have not taken care of health and safetly in the first place. Why there is such a big gap between the rails of tiger cage which is a dangerous animal. Sue them.

Dr S Kamath , Mumbai right said.If the cage is what we see in the picture then it is invitation to be welcome for Tigers breakfast. Howcan they allow visitors to get so near to the cage with bars distance so much. Deffinetly there should have been another fense from this cage to keep of the vistors from the hand reach to the cage. A big negligence from the zoo authorities and they should be held responsible and booked against. Poor Kid is disables for life due to such carlessness from the Zoo authorities.

I don not blame the Parents in this case solely .The Zoo authorities should have kept Double fencing for the cage and there is some large space between the 2 fences and hence even if kids put hand inside the Cage it should be inaccessible to the Tiger .Mysore Zoo has done that way .Afterall Children Love t o see the Tiger in Zoo and Tigers Love Human flesh

Caution board will be there in all the zoo's. Elders are responsible for this. Since he is small child elders should have guided him properly near the cage.

Its really sad that a little one has lost his arm forever. Nobody can ever imagine his pain and the plight which he has invited for the rest of his life. Along with his folks the Zoo authorities should be blamed too, for they should have implemented strict security around such wild species. The viewing of wild animals should be limited to certain boundaries, where to no individual can near the cages. For no fault of his, the kid has gotten handicapped.

This is really shocking, how can someone leave such a small kid near the Tiger cage? I feel there should be some system in place for all the visitors who is visiting to see these wild animals and there should be one escort behind a group of visitors to train on Do’s and Don’ts to avoid such incidents in the future

Feel in earnest for Master Nikhil.
    Utter negligence in child care
by the concerned. Grand mothers should take care of children at home. Not take them to Zoos , Parks, etc, where disasters are waiting to happen in a flash. Thank God for even small mercies- The tragedy could have been more serious....
