Mangalore: Rangachavadi Troupe Presents Delightful Cultural Evening

Mangalore, Oct 26: 'Samskratika Saurabha', a cultural programme was organized on Friday October 26 at Town Hall by Rangachavadi, a troupe that has been supporting Tulu literature and culture since many years. The programme was headed by Bala Jagadish Shetty, .

The programme was presided over and inaugurated by Umanath Kotian, president, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy.

Rohan Monteiro, MD, Property Infratech India Pvt Ltd, Kripa Amar Alva, member, Airport Authority of India suggestion committee, Maravoor Jagadish Shetty, Krishna Shetty, Santosh Kumar Rai Boliyar, Raviraj Shetty, Amrith V Kadri, Sanjeeva M Shetty and T A Srinivas shared the dais.

Addressing the gathering, Kripa Alva said, “Indian culture and foreign culture are like two boats, and we have our legs on both the boats, which is neither good nor safe.”

She further added, "No other language or culture is as rich as our Tulu culture. Non-Tuluvas also get attached to Tuluvas very soon."

T A Srinivas, a well-known film producer said, "There are ways to create a successful Tulu movie with a low budget, provided we choose a good director, cameraman and crew. Tulu people have lot of expectations from new Tulu movies, but recently, a couple of movies have not done well and have created a bad impression on the Tulu movie lovers.”

He also urged the upcoming directors and producers to put in their sincere efforts and come up with the best movies and live up to the expectations of the viewers.

Rohan Monteiro said, “Language and culture are two faces of the same coin. Both are inter-related. Tulu is a rich language and troupes like Rangachavadi are a must to preserve our culture.”

In his presidential address, Umanath Kotian said that Tuluvas get adjusted to anyone and are capable of leading their life anywhere. “Our ancestors have struggled hard to leave behind such a rich and prestigious culture and it is our duty to preserve it for the future. Hence such troupes are needed,” he said.

He also urged the people to support and lend a helping hand to the Tulu Bhavan that is coming up at Urwa Store.

T A Srinivas was felicitated on the occasion for his contribution to the field of Tulu movies.
Dance shows by Excellent dance troupe and songs by Jagadeep Shivapura were a delight.

Tulu drama, “Ill Bhadhk” by the artistes of Ranga Taranga, Kaup, was also staged.
