Mangalore, Nov 5:
Stressing on their demand for houses, sites and title deeds, as many as 200 people gathered in front of the taluk panchayat office here on Monday November 5 under the leadership of DK district committee of Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha (KPRS).

Protestors shouted slogans against the state and central governments pointing out at their failure to provide houses to the poor. They said that that all the land is being acquired by real estate bigwigs and now they were trying to acquire the fertile agricultural land, as a result of which no land is available for the poor for their housing requirements.

Addressing the gathering K R Shreeyan, president of Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha said that in DK district many families are residing in congested homes in the absence of adequate land.

"They are not in a situation to buy even 5 cents land. Those who are residing in government lands for many years should be provided title deeds. Due to lack of information, many could not submit their declaration and their form numbers 50 and 53 were rejected. Their right to land should be restored," he urged.

Yadava Shetty, chief secretary, KPRS, addressing the protestors said that though the state government promised allotment of Rs 435 crore in the budget for the poor landless people, nothing has materialized to date.

The protestors were arrested by the police and later released.

Tragedy ! Govt is perfectly capable of allotting thousands of acres of land to Industries but not to poor ! Whether these are poor comrades or Red Brigades, their message is clear, they too exist and demand space. Slowly but steadily India is engulfed by Maoism ! Even Karkala is not far from Naxabari !

Feel for the truly deprived , but these Communists I tell you would like to have everything for 'Free'! Can never come to terms with their ideology that just because one is 'rich' he has take all the 'burden'...Everybody starts from scratch and money does not grow on tress ! This basic sense can never be drilled into them! Shout against 'bidi manufacturers and smoke 'bidis' in leisure , that's what most do!!
