Beijing, Nov 9 (IANS): A Tibetan villager died in China's Qinghai province after setting fire to himself Thursday, Xinhua reported.
The 41-year-old, identified as Jinba from Tongren county's Dongwei village, immolated himself late afternoon in a square in front of a monastery.
According to the Central Tibetan Administration, or the Tibetan government-in-exile in India, as many as 56 Tibetans have set themselves afire to protest China's policies and to press their demand for freedom since March 2011.
On Oct 26, a Tibetan villager in China's Gansu province set himself on fire and died. The incident occurred six days after another person had immolated himself in Tibet's Sangchu county.
