Mangalore, Nov 9: Five new members have joined the Dr Shivaram Karanth Biological Park in Pilikula.

Four-year-old tiger Shambavi has given birth two cubs while a leopard has given birth to three cubs.

"Both of Shambavi's cubs are healthy and their sex is yet to be identified", said director Jayaprakash Bhandary. Currently there are seven tigers named Illiraja, Vikram, Nethravathi, Sharavathi, Krishna, Kadama and now with two more cubs the toll has increased to nine, he added.

The three cubs born to the leopard are also healthy. As per the information received, the mother leopard was caught in a trap at Karkala and later handed over to Pilikula Biological Park.

The tail of the leopard was injured on its way to Pilikula and was treated after it was admitted to the park.

Currently, there are six leopards in the Park and now with the birth of three cubs, the total count has increased to nine.

Waw...beautiful pictures...cubs are so cute...welcome to the park cuties. But when I visited this year to the park we got to see only one tiger and it looks as if they are in open jungle though it is the park! Good these all animals are out of danger in park and if they live by their own then there is risk for them. Keep it up your good work Pilikula park's team.

So mangalore is ideal breeding wild life sanctuary, we can try more rare species and expect success...but we need to have spacious support facilities and professionals, lab to take care of them and keep them happy and healthy.

It is good to see that what humans have taken away from the habitat of these wild animals, sincere efforts are made to nurture them by the pilikula administration.
My sincere wishes to them. Perhaps a suggestion. Is it possible to make the general public volunteer to some work there on weekends. Maybe make use of such a program to educate the public the importance of conserving the wild and respecting the space of the animals in the wild. Maybe plan a full day program, involve a lot of educational activities, along with other fun activities that enable people to learn, without disturbing the animals. Perhaps such a program will make people understand the wild better. Maybe such a program maybe extended to schools as well. This will also make the authorities identify future wild life conservationists. Maybe Daijiworld can assist in many ways to promote the importance of wildlife conservation.
