There are many out there with a thinking that 'what is to happen will happen'! So these things happen. You can't change the opinion of such peopLe, since they think its 'cool'. People who are careful never venture into these dangerous places.
    RIP to the departed soul.

there is no proper knowledge for the people who work in boat about first AID otherwise definately they will save the life. so district administation should consider about this.even there should be oxygen cylinder with Ambu bag should available all the time in boat.

It is fun to be in water. But not with Nature. Take precaution when you are having fun in Water (ocean, sea, river, lakes, swimming pool, ponds, especially infants, small kids who play in bath tubs or buckets filled with water. Do not play with fire, and stay safe from storms, Wind, and tornado.

St. Mary's Island ? Oh no, if you think it is a picnic spot, you are absolutely wrong. The garbage is spilled all over, grass is grown upto waist. Toilet ? never adventure to near it ! Flies, crows and various animals will never leave your company. To get down from the ferry (boat) you have to jump into deep water till waist. When I was present there with my family with a picnic mood, a policeman informed us that govt. officials are visiting the place to check the cleanliness & he somehow arranged to collect the garbage and burn it filling the smoke throughout the area. Four persons speaking mixture of Kannand and Telugu wearing 'Mundu', holding soft drink cans in their hands arrived. Their legs were controlled by alcohol. Just looked at the female tourists/visitors of Island, passed comments in Telugu, throw the empty cans on the way & left the Island. What a supervision ! Purely illiterate, junglee, filthy 'bevda' officials. May God protect our beautiful Karnataka from animals of neighboring state who rule Kannadigas. Kind advise...pls. do not visit St. Mary's. Most important..never take aged people with you. They can not alight from boat in waist deep rough sea water. God blees you all who read this message.

I was present on the island when this incident happened. its the carelessness and underestimating the power of sea that Leads to such a disaster. and by the looks of the picnic party maybe a booze also is responsible.
my heartfelt condolences for the departed soul.

i guess, just as in a cigarette packet they show the lungs of smoker, a hoarding near the beach with the photos of people who drowned there might help in discouraging people from getting into water.

St. Mary's Island is not worth visiting. Such a shabby place! Unbelievable. Beach is so dangerous. Boards cautioning the tourists "Swimming strictly prohibited" are visible. But still mad people are venturing into the sea. My nephew also tried to ventured and I fired him left and right. These young people will never understand the risk element. Best solution is the compulsory barricade.

even after so many tragidies people dont learn...Better to barricade & limit the swimming stretch at beaches. No use of counselling people.
