Mangalore: New Deputy Commissioner N Prakash Takes Charge

Mangalore, Dec 3: N Prakash on Monday December 3 took charge as the new deputy commissioner and district magistrate for Dakshina Kannada.
Soon after taking charge, the DC said that he would boost the administrative work in the district, and that government projects would be implemented properly.
With 10 years of experience in the chief minister’s office, N Prakash, when asked regarding the nagging issue of Naxal infested villages, said that he would study the current steps taken by the administration and thereafter chalk out his plans to tackle the issue.
Incidentally, Prakash was a KAS officer who was promoted to the rank of IAS in 2007.
N Prakash obtained his BA degree from a college at his native Nanjanagoodu in Mysore district and completed his MA in history with second rank from Bangalore University. He then did his LLB from Shree Jagadguru Renukacharya College, and started his service in government sector in the year 1978. He was appointed as Group B officer and later promoted as the assistant commissioner in the revenue department. From 1985 he worked in Belgaum, Kundapur, Bellary, Haveri and Bangalore.
He also worked as deputy secretary for Deve Gowda and S M Krishna during their tenures as chief ministers. He later became the general manager of KPTCL. He went on to become the additional commissioner of BMRDA, before serving as the KSRTC director.
This is his first posting as deputy commissioner of a district.
In a formal ceremony at the DC's office, the new DC was welcomed by outgoing DC Dr N S Channappa Gowda, ZP CEO Dr K N Vijayprakash, MCC commissioner Dr Harish Kumar, ADC Dayananda, information officer Rohini among others.
