Ottawa, Dec 8 (IANS): Canada added 59,300 new jobs last month, making the unemployment rate drop 0.2 percentage points to 7.2 percent, showed government statistics.
Statistics Canada said Friday that the jobless rate in November was at a five-month low.
Before that, the unemployment rate stood at 7.4 percent. The number of new jobs added last month also exceeded most economists' forecast of a modest gain of 10,000 jobs, reported Xinhua.
Full-time jobs made up 55,200, most of which came from the private sector, said government sources.
Employment increase occurred in accommodation and food services, retail and wholesale trade, professional, scientific and technical services, as well as in agriculture, while jobs in manufacturing and construction were on a decline.
The Canadian economy expanded only 0.1 percent in the third quarter of the year.
