Mangalore, Dec 9: Christmas celebrations jointly organized by Father Muller Charitable Institutions and White Doves were held at the main entrance of FMCI here on Saturday December 8 at 6:30 pm.
The programme was organized for the benefit of the patients, their relatives and the public.
The programme began on a high note with a variety of entertaining skits, plays, dance and carols by the students of the Father Muller College.
A Christmas bulletin was released on the occasion by Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director, FMCI.
The Father Muller Calender was released by Fr Walter Pinto.
Fr Dennis D’Sa welcomed and proposed the vote of thanks. Susan compered the programme.
After the cultural events by the Father Muller staff and students, it was turn of the White Doves to weave magic with their 18th year Christmas play - “2000 year-old-Fact in a Mobile Act”.
More than 150 artistes, from a 40-day-old baby to a 65-year-old, peformed in the play. The high point of the show was when two camels ridden by characters in the tableau came on to the stage, passing through the audience who were truly stunned.
As during their first show on December 7, the one-and-a-half hour play mesmerized the audience with its beautiful depiction of the life of Jesus. From his birth to his teachings to how people had a change of heart towards him, the play wove each episode together with an engaging narration, with dance, drama and music making it thoroughly entertaining. The final emphasis was on the message on love and peace, and that God is superior to all.
Carol singing and arrival of Santa Claus added more charm and joy to the occasion.
Fr Richard Coelho, Fr Rudolph D’Sa, Fr Vincent Saldanha, Fr Peter Noronha, Fr Vincent Menezes, Fr Walter Pinto, Dr Srinath Rao, Dr J P Alva were also present.
Corrine Rasquinha, founder, White Doves and Vitus Rasquinha, trustee, White Doves were welcomed and honoured with bouquets by Fr Patrick Rodrigues.
A large number of people gathered to watch the beauty of Christmas coming alive on stage.
