'One', a One-man Show: Tamil Director

Chennai, Dec 14 (IANS): Tamil director Rajkumar Sankagiri, who has written and directed his upcoming English drama "One", says he has also handled all other departments of the film, which he considers a "one man show".

"I've handled every department in the film. From acting to directing, editing to music, I've done all the work by myself. I even handled the computer generated imagery (CGI) of the film, which is very pivotal to the setting of the film," Sankagiri told IANS.

Asked why he chose to work alone, he said: "To prove that a film can be made by one person, I started working on this film".

Sankagiri plays the sole character in the film, while there are 300 different CGI-facilitated versions of him in the film as well.

"I'm the only character in the film, but there are 300 different versions of me and it was basically developed with the help of CGI over a period of few years," he said.

How much time did he spend making the film?

"More than in the making of the film, lot of time was spent in learning other streams of filmmaking. I wanted to learn 36 departments of filmmaking in five years, but it actually took me nine years," he said.

Almost 80 percent of the film, which is made to impress international as well Indian audiences, is complete, and the director hopes to release the project worldwide next year.

"Though I don't want to reveal too much of the story, all I can say at this moment is the film is getting made in such a way that it is sure to attract global as well Indian audiences," said Sankagiri.

"It would be a regular film and will provide the feel and excitement of watching any other mainstream cinema," he added.
