Shimoga, Dec 20: Minor tremors were felt in seven villages of Mandagadde Hoballi, Tirthahalli taluk here on Wednesday December 19 noon.

At around 2.55 pm, low intensity tremors were felt in Mandagadde, Singanabidare, Moorukai, Thalale, Thotada Koppa, Hegalatti and Kodumane village, for about 5 to 10 seconds.

Prior to the tremors, a loud sound was heard in a radius of 15 km. People came out to check what it was and soon they too experienced the tremors

Vessels in the house shook, a few fell down, and for a few minutes panic prevailed among the villagers.

Initially, the villagers thought that the sound might have come from some mining work but soon they realized that there was no mining work going on. Similar tremors were felt 18 years ago, said a local.
