Kundapur: Illegal Laterite Mining Quarries Raided

Kundapur, Dec 21:
Revenue inspector Shankar Shetty along with other village accountants conducted raids on illegal laterite stone mining quarries in Ajri, Kodladi, Kudrebeer Katte and Kenjimane.
 
Acting on a tip off from local people, the raids were conducted by the officials.


It is learnt that the quarries belong to Sudhkar Shetty, Devidas Shetty and Ajith Shetty. The quarries were done in Ajri with survey number 196 and 198. However survey number 198 belongs to government which comprises of 5.4 acre land.
 
Two Lorries used for transporting laterite stones and sand were seized.
 
Village accountants Kantaraj Hemmadi, Ashok Kumar Aloor, Shiva Keraadi, Prakash Vandse, Ravishankar Katbalthur, Raghvendra were present along with the revenue inspector.

    THERE IS A ILLEGAL MINING BETWEEN NEERMARGA AND MALLUR A ROAD THAT CONNECTS TO B.C.ROAD. NEAR PERMAI TO MALLUR THERE ARE LOTS OF ILLEGAL LATERITE QUARRY IS GOING ON SINCE YEARS AND THE CONCERNED AUTHORITIES ARE QUIET THOUGH IT IS AN BIG PROBLEM AND IRRITATION TO THE NEARBY HOUSES AND AS WELL PUBLIC ROADS GET DAMAGED VERY HEAVILY DUE TO THE CONSTANT LOADS MOVING ON TRUCKS THROUGHOUT THE DAY... THE CONCERNED AUTHORITIES SHOULD TAKE INTO NOTICE THESE ACTIVITIES AND BAN SUCH ACTIVITIES.
