Udupi: St Peter Church, Barkur Celebrates Annual Parish Feast

Udupi, Dec 21: The annual parish feast of St Peter Church, Barkur was celebrated on Tuesday December 18, 19 with much fanfare. Parishioners from Barkur and other places thronged the place to celebrate the annual feast in the honour of patron saint St Peter.

Dr Gerald Isac Lobo, bishop of Udupi diocese was the main celebrant of the holy Euchastric celebration on Wednesday December 19. Along with him Fr Stany B Lobo, dean of Kallianpur Denary, Fr Valerian Mendonca, parish priest and chancellor of Udupi diocese and other priests from the neighbouring parish took part in the holy Eucharistic celebration.

Previous day Vespers were celebrated in the Church. Fr Valerian D’Silva OFM was the main celebrant of the Vespers. While vicar general of Udupi diocese Fr Baptist Menezes and other priests from the neighbouring parish took part in the celebration.

Parishioners of Kudru ward took the responsibility of the traditional Pirgent.

Fr Valeroan Mendonca, parish priest of Barkur was felicitated by the bishop on behalf of the parishioners for being appointed as the chancellor of the Udupi diocese. 

The newly edited directory of the parish, containing contact information of the parishioners was released on the occasion.
