Beltangady, Dec 27: Police during an investigation have successfully arrested a prominent motor vehicle thief and have seized two cars and a motor bike from him.

On Wednesday December 26, speaking to the media, circle inspector Bhaskar Rai said that the arrested has been identified as Girish (27), resident of Nanjangoodu from Mysore district.

Police have seized two Maruthi cars which he stole from Dharmasthala during Lakshadeepotsava and one from Kothagala station limits. Along with it a Splendor motor bike stolen at Bommanahalli station limits in Bangalore four year back has also been taken into possession.

As per the information received, the arrested pursued his PU studies and holds a Diploma certificate in Electronic and Communication. He had previously stolen four bikes from the Satellite bus stand in Bangalore and one bike from the Mandya city police station limits.

The accused Girish was residing with a married woman and was caught by police previously. However he tricked the police by stating himself as a reporter for a newspaper and managed to escape. Police sources said that, two of his relatives are also behind bars in the theft case.

ASI Kalaimaar, Chandrashekarayya, Sundar Shetty, Harish, Naveen, Kanakaraj, Sangayya, Chandrashekar among others were part of the investigation.
