Udupi: Education Must Include Personality Development - Vishweshar Kageri

Udupi , Dec 28: "Education should not be imparted for the purpose of obtaining a certificate only, personality development should be included along with education", said primary and highschool education minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri after inaugurating the golden jubilee celebration of Volakadu Government united high school in Udupi.

He also added that through the Sarva Shikshna Abiyana new changes have been taken place in the field of education. Compulsory education was introduced with a reason that every child must be educated; no one should work as child laborers hence compulsory education was implemented. Presently the legislation is implemented on compulsory education till 8 standard, but it has requested the government to add on till 10 standard.

Youth are slowly losing a grip on their physical and mental abilities, so the government has planned to setup a health team in every school. Volakado school has maintained a good link with the old students, the past students should help in development of the government school. In providing effective education Volakadu has its recognition in national level so on this golden jubilee celebration, students should bag 100% result to the school as a challenge.     

He also added, "Swami Vivekanada was an inspirational leader of our country, on account of his 150 birth anniversary from January 1 to 7 Viveka Saptha is organized in all schools. On this occasion elocution, drawing and several competitions relating to Swami Vivekanada is organized. On January 12, a portrait of Swami Vivekanada’s portraits, thoughts are carried in procession throughout the towns. On this occasion all 4 lac teachers, 1 crore 10 lac students will take part in this programme.

On this occasion, two students were gifted with computers who secured high percentages in SSLC examinations.

Raghupathi Bhat presided as the president, MR Hegde of Poornaprajna college, educational assistant director Nagendra Madhyasta, Amritha Shenoy president of old students association, taluk panchyath president Gowri Poojary, director of PU education department SS Shinde, educational department assistant director K Anand, area education officer Vasanth Shetty, school headmistress Nirmala, education officer Ashok Kamath, town municipal member Geetha Ravi Shett were present on the occasion.

    Totally agree sir,
    our youth should be fit and all rounders-mentally-morally and physically all in tune.
    Introduce : Toast masters clubs- ches clubs- science&maths club- yoga clubs along with ACC/NCC/GIRL SCOUTS/GUIDES followed by 2 years of military training. after 12th grade.
    There should be community service -to serve the public- city environmental cleaning -serve the elderly - etc.
    Students should be allowed and made to work during summer holidays as apprentices for hands on training.
    Yoga -discipline- respect for elders- fear of GOD-Etiquette-manners etc all to be trained professionally.
    Sports & games should be made compulsory for physical exercise.
    There should be intercollege-inter state competition in general knowledge- singing- maths-music-chess- spelling-story writing- drawing-etc.
    Establish chess -maths clubs thru out the nation.
    Introduce SANSKRIT language also for the VEDAS.
