Bantwal, Dec 31: Senior RSS member, social worker, leader of Padmashali Samaj P Mohan Shetty (67) passed away on Sunday December 30.

Mohan Shetty who suffered kidney failure from past three years was admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore. He did not respond to the treatment and died on Sunday.

Inspired by RSS in his childhood he worked as an active volunteer. After primary education he stepped into tailoring field. In 1976, he was jailed for opposing the state of emergency in India. With tailoring, he entered into textile business but never forgot his principles.

With love for the nation he served political field for several years. He also served as Vittal gram panchayat member, Vittal panchayat member, Bantwal taluk panchayat member. He had been to Ayodya during the Ayodya movement and to Delhi during the Delhi movement.

He also worked as president, director, member in government organization, served more than 30 fields and participated in educational, labour and national level campaigns.

He formed the Vittal Youth Mandali and guided as founding member, president, honorary president till his last breath.

He also worked as member of Vittal Mahatobara Shree Panchalingeshwar Temple renovation committee which is being renovated, and as treasurer of Ajeya Vishwastha Mandal formed by Murukaje Maithreyi Gurukul.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
