Udupi: Various Associations Stage Protest Over Increasing Violence Against Women

Udupi, Jan 3: Lions Club District 317 C, Mahila sangha along with the students held a protest rally from Board High School to the Tashildars office Bannanje, while Campus Front of India staged protest near service bus stand on Wednesday January 2 condemning the mounting number of atrocities on women and rape cases in the nation.

The protestors demanded the culprits to be hanged to death. A rally was led by a tableau portraying three men were slated to be hanged and a lady with AK 47. All the protestors wore black arm bands.

Sukanya said it is always necessary for girls to opt for self defense. She lamented the claims of police who say lonely women move at night hours are vulnerable to atrocities. She urged the police to extend protection to women.

Fr William Martis, Mother of Sorrows Church, Sukanya, writer and social worker, Ashique Muloor, secretary, Vishali Shetty, secretary, Vijay G Bangera,coordinator, Satheesh Shetty, Divya, Geetha Shetty, Kanakalaxmi Shilpa Shetty, students among others were present.

    As the crime investigation and punishment system in India has failed the common man the CJI's adjectived phrase seem the only option left. If one has resources - money /muscle power or contacts at proper places - whatever heinous crimes indulge in one gets scot-free
