Mangalore, Jan 8: The cultural association, St Agnes College (Autonomous) in association with department of Kannada and culture, government of Karnataka will organize a four-day national level workshop on ‘Folk Dances of Maharashtra’ from January 12 to 15, informed Shubharekha, coordinator of the workshop at a press conference held on Monday January 7.
She said that in the days of folk culture being on the verge of extinct, this workshop would imbibe love and interest in the Indian culture and folklore among the students from various colleges of our country.
Renowned artiste Anil Kumar Kichi and group from New Delhi will expose the students to various forms of folk dances of Maharashtra.
Dr Sanjay Shantharam, a renowned cine/television actor and eminent Bharathanatyam artiste will inaugurate the workshop at 10.30 pm on January 12. Karnataka Kalashri B Bhanumathi will be the chief guest.
Meena Prakash will be the chief guest for the valedictory function on January 15 at 3.30 pm.
Principal of the college Dr Sr Marie Prem D’Souza AC, student coordinators Rowena and Chaithra were present at the press meet.
