Mangalore, Jan 10: Two persons from the city have been accused of cheating a woman to the tune of Rs 73 lac in connection with a restaurant deal in Sharjah.

Tasneem Sheikh, a resident of Nagpur has accused Suraj Kotian and Chandrashekar Upadhya from Mangalore of not paying her the money after the sale of a restaurant which was a partnership venture in Sharjah.

In 2007, Tasneem, who was working in Dubai, had planned to start a hotel in Sharjah in partnership with Suraj Kotian and Chandrashekar Upadhya. Accordingly, on March 1, 2009 they opened a restaurant in Sharjah.

As per the information received, Tasneem invested Rs 60 lac in this business. In addition, she deposited Rs 3 lac in Suraj’s bank account and Rs 10 lac in Chandrashekar’s bank account. Altogether a sum of Rs 73 was given by Tasneem all alone.

Later, in the year 2011 Suraj and Chandrashekar reportedly sold the restaurant without Tasneem's knowlegde and without even repaying her money.

Tasneem has filed a complaint in JMFC second court and as the accused reside in Kadri police station limits, the case has been handed over to them for further investigation.

Mr Gerald, Plz stop dividing people by minority and majority. There is no religion for crime and done by anyone is not pardonable. Please stop behaving as if you are in minority and are being tortured. This is the mentality that has hit our state. Lets condemn and punish the bad and not any religion.

    Nagesh Nayak,

For cheating, stealing and raping there is no caste, creed or religion. It's all individual human weakness and mentality. See in this case the names of accused: Suraj Kotian and Chandrashekar Upadhyaya!!!
